Cllr Erica Gbajumo - Playground and Park

From "Tiverton Open Space playground refurbishment."

Go to the project

The council should consider the following when rejuvenating the park:

  • The playground needs to be rejuvenated to ensure disabled children are considered
  • New swings
  • Lock the park after certain hours/a park warden. This will ensure there is a reduction in ASB and those intent on damaging the play area are prevented from doing so. It’s a small price to pay for if it keeps the new equipment free from damage. If the funding will not cover measures which prevent the park from being vandalised, the council must utilise NCIL funding.
  • An official timeline should be shared with Councillors and residents so everyone knows what stage the rejuvenation project is at
  • Clear signs requesting people pick up after their dogs and an explanation as to the repercussions if they don’t.
  • Daily cleaning. Tiverton park has a high footfall and zone 1 cleaning measures should be implemented as a matter of urgency.  There is dog mess all over the park which is disgraceful and needs to be tackled immediately.
  • As there is more than enough funding, public toilets must be included in the rejuvenation. Other parks in Brent have these facilities and the Brondesbury Park ward is in dire need of more public toilets.
