Option 2 -Demolish and replace with a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) or Outdoor Gym
From "Abbey Estate Community Centre"
Go to the project

This option involves the Council demolishing the building replacing it with a multi-use games area that could host a wide range of sporting activities for young people. MUGA’s can be used all year long, regardless of the weather condition.
Please let us know your preference of park facilities you would like the Council to provide on site after the Abbey Community Centre has been demolished. Please list the answers below in order of priority:
- MUGA
- Outdoor gym
- Community Garden / Allotments

This option could be a great way to have some proper usage of the space. The MUGA's however tend to focus on young people. I think careful consultation would be needed to decide on the design/equipment and target age groups. Is this really what young people want or do they want skate parks, adventure playgrounds such as at Queens Park, Gurnell and Silkstream park in Barnet.
Outdoor Gym is a nice idea. A community hall may get more all year round use as it can provide space for all kinds of fitness and health classes. i.e. yoga, aerobics, etc
Most properties have gardens so not 100% sold on allotments. There are allotments also close by. I think the community and park need to considered together.
A community hall/workspace/cafe and MUGA would be preferred on the whole site. (park and community centre).
