More LTNs in Brent

From "Draft Borough Plan Priorities"

Go to the project

Brent is failing its citizens in the terms of focusing on a reduction of pollution and reducing traffic. It's not keeping up with the commitments to reduce traffic, nor are it's investments in line.

I thus propose that the council actually focus on reducing traffic by 27% in line with the goals set by the Mayor of London. The only proven way to do that is LTNs, traffic filters and focus on active travel and public transport.

LTNs cause traffic to divert to the main roads causing congestion and congestion means more pollution.
I support this as a whole however the Council is, by it's actions, to increase vehicle journeys by moving a school 6 miles away! What happened to all the suggestions given by Living Streets in their report commissioned by Brent Council?

@Yogindra Pandya The council is doing a number of things that are not in line with it's own policies and overall need to reduce driving to both create a healthier environment and reduce pollution.

@Birgir Magnússon I agree but I think the Council needs to have a broader picture as there appear to be increasing density of people and therefore vehicles. Increasingly commercial vehicles on residential streets.

@Yogindra Pandya Transport strategy should be focused on getting people between places, not vehiclces. That aligns with reducing car useage and in line with the Mayor's goals of a 27% reduction in overall miles driven in London.
