Pedestrian Priority Traffic Signals + Zebra crossing on side roads

From "Draft Borough Plan Priorities"

Go to the project

Currently you can wait a long time (sometimes when there is not even any traffic) to cross the road at points. The pedestrian traffic lights need to be improved and give priority to pedestrians along the KHR.

Crossing the side roads along the KHR is also often dangerous due to the amount of vehicles. Zebra crossing across the side roads would greatly improve walking along the KHR (see the recent Cardiff trial).

I forgot to mention one extremely important point which is why does Brent Council allow cars to park in blind spots both for cars as well as pedestrian's. For example in Hillfield Avenue, Wembley the council has marked parking bays on the pavement but if you drive there on any night apart from event days cars are double parked in the ROAD itself blocking one entire lane. Drive a little forwards towards the bend which leads to Lyon Park Avenue you will notice cars parked on the road where there are no marked bays. This is at the beginning and at the end of this bend of Hillfield Avenue leading to Lyon Park Avenue. There has already been one fatal accident there because drivers views are obstructed in both directions. The careless owners of these cars do not care that by parking their cars in these position they are obstructing the views of drivers in both direction and its impact. There is a school on the right hand side and children run across the road all the time. If they can't see the car or vice a versa then what do you think is waiting to happen. If ever something tragic like that happens who will take responsibility. The Council and Councillors should listen to the residents and paint double red lines across all blind spots in Brent please.
I agree. If you are a pedestrian using KHR to get from A to B, it can take a long time. I used to be able to really step out along the road but it is now so full of obstructions on the footpath, and delays at intersections that this is no longer possible. I would rather not cross on the don't walk sign, especially if there are children around who need to see adults setting the right example.
I agree with the above suggestion but would like to add that one can wait at pedestrian crossing for as long as you like and just watch cars zoom passed you. Drivers don't want to stop and sometimes I wonder if they even know what it's purpose is. Make all open pedestrian crossings with lights if not than add cameras so that culprits can face a heavy fine and points for not stopping. If you walk in the side streets you can see that cars drive at speeds exceeding 20 mph. Where is your enforcement?
