Protected cycle lane both sides of Chamberlayne Road
From "Draft Borough Plan Priorities"
Go to the project
This road is beyond horrible to walk down or cycle down and to be honest even to drive down. It is constantly congested and incredibly unsafe and unpleasant for active travel. A protected cycle lane on both sides would give more separation and protection for pedestrian and of course make it much safer and pleasant for Cyclists. The simple fact is this road cannot sustain the level of traffic it receives so urgent and drastic action is required.

Agree. As far as I can see the new cycle lane (on the uphill segment on one side of the road) was only introduced to aid motorists, so they would not need to overtake cyclists when going uphill. The protected lane then stops bizarrely halfway down making is no safer than before for cycling. I persoanlly always choose to detour via Queens Park to avoid this "road from hell"

The road is already too narrow to accommodate a protected cycle lane on both sides. The recent changes to the road have already made things much worse than they were.

@Jayesh Bhudia not at all, there is enough room and the changes have not made a difference considering there was already a unprotected cycle lane there. Unless you’re suggesting it was routinely ignored in which case further proving the point for it being required.
