Sustainable planting & Additional Security

Insect friendly trees, shrubs and other planting that are hardy and easy to maintain, would be important to a successful and sustainable garden in this area. Community support is essential but help from the Council is also needed to maintain this space for example when considering the practicalities such as access to a water supply. Replacing concrete and other hard surfaces with permeable, more environmentally friendly surfaces should aim to reduce surface water runoff that can lead to flooding. Furthermore, lighter colour materials could help to brighten & lighten these otherwise dark surfaces. A litter bin might encourage pedestrians to dispose of their waste rather than litter pavements. Additional security in the shape of new CCTV cameras would not only help to combat Flytipping, drug dealing and other criminal activity, but safeguard against vandalism and other antisocial behaviour that are rife in this area.
