upgrading of the playground area - shading and herb planting

Marion Hofmann•4 years ago including creating some shading to protect from the increasing hot weatherdisallowing any business (nursery) to use fake grass. Using fake grass in a park should never be allowed. What kind of example are we setting for our children? Instead the area around the nursery and playground should include a mud kitchen and herb planting and a wildlife corner so kids learn about nature

benches and bins on the Green - Roe Green village

Marion Hofmann•4 years ago are in a bad state and need updating. Please update the benchesThe bin has been taken way. As many delivery drivers on their bikes etc use the area the lack of the bins means lots of cigarette butts and rubbish left behind. Please re-instate the bins2 holes have been left behind when trees were removed. These need filling inThe Green needs more shading now that the trees are gone. Please plant more trees here - fruit treesPlant herbs around the greenSet up some bat boxes, bird boxes and hedgehog homes on the GreenContinue not using herbicide

replace benches

Marion Hofmann•4 years ago there are two empty spaces where benches used to be. Near the bus stop. Please replace them and fix the small wall around Roe Green Park

green roofs on bus shelters

Marion Hofmann•4 years ago and more use of solar power

create green boxes around trees

Marion Hofmann•4 years ago for local residents to plant up

bike path - different colour

Marion Hofmann•4 years ago often we see cars parked across the bike path and people walking on them as its not always obvious to others that there is an actual bike path. Needs greater visibility to make the path safer for all

Remove the car parks from the park

Marion Hofmann•4 years ago There is too much commercialisation in Roe Green Park. Its hard to let the kids run around as there are always cars and vans driving through the park. Lets reduce that as much as possible. The nursery doesn't need a car park and the Southover school should have very limited car parking spaces. The main use of the park should be for wellbeing and exercise not for commercial spacesRecently lots of cars have started parking up for picnics and people are even washing their cars in the park. Please stop all cars that don't have to be there from enteringThe cafe in the park is particularly difficult and keeps changing owners. The old building has already been changed many times and lots of enforcement action created no positive change. Council allowed the hedges to be fully cut down and replaced with plastic hedge covering and blue lights. This should never have happened. As the cafe is in the park, the Council committed to ensure cafes in the parks use Fairtrade products. This is part of the council's Fairtrade borough status - it seems Council is not implementing its own policy. Please add this to the contract to that a more conscious business is taking overMore sign-posting to the Walled Green gardenThe area behind Walled Green Garden is full of burnt out cars, shopping trolleys, tyres and rubbish - please clear this out - we may not be able to view what's there but it is effecting what seeps into the ground

more trees in Roe Green Park

Marion Hofmann•4 years ago for years trees have not been replaced. We need more shading. Especially with the influx of new people to the area who seem to like to have a picnic. Lets make it nicer for them by creating shaded areas where they can spread out with their often large families to have a picnic and enjoy the park

Green between Shorts Croft and Goldsmith Lane

Marion Hofmann•4 years ago 3 trees have recently been felled. Please plant new trees on this mini green and some herbs. The bench needs updating. If possible have some landscaping with large stones and less moving so more wildlife can move in. Nearby a large oak tree has been felled a few years ago and a new one was promised but this did not happen. the stump is still there. Please replant a tree there as well and consider an additional bench in this area

Create a mini library

Marion Hofmann•4 years ago set up a shed or move the red phone box from Stag lane to the green for a book exchange - examples lots of other boroughs like Waltham Forest Council

Install a kissing gate to stop dustbins going through the park

Marion Hofmann•4 years ago There are currently yellow pins installed to stop the dustbins but they are not sufficient. there is a lot degradation and the area needs re-seeding and the double-planted hedges need tending and re-growing to close the gap there

mini energy centre on Green - roe green village

Marion Hofmann•4 years ago energy centre for the village to mitigate against the fact no solar panels are allowed on the roofs

Complete the green wall

Marion Hofmann•4 years ago and plant up more and get some big rocks to make it look nicer - like in Stanmore Common

Public green area around Roe Green village sign

Marion Hofmann•4 years ago this public green is currently just mown. It could easily made more biodiverse by planting the area up with herbs and low-growing bushes. That would mean less work for the council and could create a piece of wildlife for the local hedgehogs. The area is heavily used by staff from the village school. They tend to smoke there as they are not allowed to smoke on school premises. We would prefer if the school provided some cigarette butt bins near them so staff are not attracted to smoke in the village. Maybe Council can come up with a solution there? It just makes such a bad impression
