Daniel Press4 years ago Roundwood extension is a large open green space that is primarily used as a car park by visiting film crews, and the fun fair once/twice per year.Why not incorporate the extension into the main park, with access between the two?Plant trees and flowerbeds to make it more attractive?Build paths rather than having a central road running through it?Link the skate park into the rest of the park so there is a sense of cohesion, and overall increased usage?

Daniel Press4 years ago The forest school (behind the playground) was a brilliant initiative and has been fantastic for local children and schools, but there is still so much more opportunity within the park.The area around the café, bowling green and playground has huge potential to utilise existing unused green areas and create a community space but is seriously lacking in investment and imagination. For example, the design plan for the renovation of the existing playground are unimaginative (generic Wicksteed eyesore), too small in scale given usage, and does don't do the park or local community justice.This park should be a destination for people in surrounding neighbourhoods instead of acting as a divide between Kensal Rise and Harlesden. Currently people in Harlesden drive to visit Queens Park, and that should not be the case. The recent £85k council spend on Bramshill Park shows what a difference investing in existing spaces can make to a neighbourhood.

Daniel Press4 years ago Brent’s own research has cited limited access to green space for many neighbourhoods and yet investment in existing green spaces remains poor.Roundwood Park is a good example. The park is surrounded by low income, high density housing and the park offers the only outside space in the area for many local families. There is a derelict bowling green that is looking for a new tenant but on the condition they keep it as a bowling green. Why not open it up as a community space?There is also a very sad looking playground with so much potential (look at Paddington Recreation or Queens Park), and yet the proposals for the replacement are generic, unimaginative and short sighted. Children benefit from being occupied and active and yet there is very little in the way of provisioning for them.
