Brent Business Climate Charter

Help shape our Business Climate Charter

At Brent Council we declared a climate emergency in 2019 and pledged to do everything in our gift to become a carbon-neutral borough by 2030.

With almost a quarter of Brent’s carbon emissions generated from commercial/industrial sources, we are committed to working with businesses across the borough to help them reduce their carbon footprint.

Our new Climate Charter is a way for local businesses to make a public pledge to doing their bit to tackle the climate emergency, whilst being supported through access to resources from the council to help them to achieve this.

We want the charter to be achievable for as many Brent businesses as possible. That’s why we want you to be involved in shaping it. Please share your feedback with us below.

What will the Business Climate Charter include?

Signing a climate charter demonstrates a commitment to sustainable principles. All Brent businesses are encouraged to apply and will be eligible to do so either online or in person. You can learn more about the benefits of signing up to the charter further down.

The pledges which form part of the Climate Charter will be linked to our Climate and Ecological Emergency. Possible pledges could be focused on the following themes:

Waste
Consumption
Energy
Transport
Water
Biodiversity
Climate Action

In order to sign the climate charter, businesses will need to fill in a short application form with a paragraph on what they are currently doing for each pledge theme and what they plan to do to improve in that area in the next year.

One year on, we will ask businesses to provide us with a short update of what they have achieved in the year since signing the charter.
