Have Your Say Bridge Park Consultation - Phase 2
Residents are being asked for their views on the future of Bridge Park Community Leisure including options for leisure and community facilities, as part of a wider redevelopment to provide new homes and green spaces along the Hillside Regeneration Corridor. This consultation will help shape the future of the site and ensure that local needs are met.
The deteriorating condition of the existing leisure centre means that it would require very substantial capital investment to keep the site open and safe on a sustainable basis, including major and expensive works to the lifts and other key parts of the building fabric. We do not believe this expenditure is a sensible use of limited council funding when there are proposals to build a new, state-of-the-art centre for the community to use for years to come.
Brent Council is asking local people for their views about closing the existing leisure centre in July 2025, to enable a planned closure to take place in a managed way.
For further information, including the upcoming exhibitions please refer to the Bridge Park webpage: Bridge Park redevelopment | Brent Council
Your views are vital, so have your say by 11 May 2025.
Phases
Have Your Say Bridge Park Consultation - Phase 2
In the first phase of Hillside Corridor Public Consultation (from November 2024 to January 2025), we asked for your views on plans for the Hillside Corridor, including Bridge Park, and how you would like to use the new leisure centre.
During that consultation, the Council mentioned (on the consultation portal) the possible closure of Bridge Park Leisure Centre in 2025. We are now following up with a proposal to close the current Centre and before making a final decision, we want to hear how this could affect you.
This consultation also includes a summary of the feedback we received during the first phase and how this has shaped our plans for Bridge Park and the wider Hillside Corridor.
The questionnaire has three sections and please note the key areas where we are seeking public feedback are:
- Whether we should go ahead with the proposed closure of the leisure centre in July 2025
- Mitigation measures for the proposed closure
- Design and facilities of the new leisure centre: public input can shape the features and services available in the replacement facility.
- Role of an Advisory Group: The opportunity exists to engage community stakeholders in shaping the transition process
- The initial Equality Impact Assessment the Council has completed regarding the proposed closure of the leisure centre
