Byron Road Area - Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ)
In September 2025, the Council received a petition from residents in the Byron Road and Peel Road requesting the Council to introduce a controlled parking zone (CPZ). The petitioners raised concerns that commuters, businesses and other non-residents frequently park in the area for extended periods, including during event days, making it increasingly difficult for residents to find available spaces. As part of the 2025-26 Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) programme, the Council has decided to consult residents on proposed CPZ measures for their street. The affected area is outlined on the map provided.
Phases
Consultation
All the kerbside road space on Pell Road, Byron Road and Ada Road will be controlled. Yellow lines will be introduced to control road junctions (double yellow line) and vehicular accesses (single yellow). This will prevent obstructive parking on junctions and across driveways. It will also improve accessibility for pedestrians, the disabled, emergency services and refuse collection.
Parking will be either for permit holder or in 'pay by phone’ bays. Residents will need to purchase permits if they, or their visitors, wish to park in the designated bays during the scheme’s operational times you prefer in the questionnaire. However, permits are not required for residents who park in their own driveways.
