Carlton Vale Boulevard

The Council has identified the need to improve public realm, landscaping, pedestrian facilities and cycle lane. This delivers on the aspirations for Carlton Vale Boulevard as outlined within the South Kilburn Masterplan 2016 and Supplementary Planning Document 2017.

As one of the spatial design principles within the masterplan, Carlton Vale Boulevard will improve the north-south severance in South Kilburn along with helping to stitch the regeneration schemes along Carlton Vale together. The mixed species boulevard tree planting will offer seasonal interest and vibrancy of colours through the seasons. The width of the pavement will be maximised where possible increasing pedestrian comfort and helping to deliver on the masterplan’s approach to reverse the transport hierarchy. The carriageway width will remain unchanged.

Public engagement on the scheme has been undertaken over the past 7-months through a series of virtual online consultation events and co-design workshops held by the South Kilburn Regeneration team. Feedback from the co-design workshops has been taken on board as part of the design and development of the scheme, which has now progressed to the final consultation stage including a residents’ questionnaire.
