Church End and Roundwood Green Corridors

Phases

Phases overview

Consultation

5 July 2025 23:00 - 4 August 2025 23:00

A public consultation on the Church Path Green Corridor proposals was carried out from 7 July 2025 to 3 August 2025. Consultation documents and questionnaires were distributed to local residents, and a series of engagement events, including walkabouts and drop-in sessions were held to gather feedback.

A summary of the consultation, outcomes, and plans are available in the Delegated Approval Report and Appendix (both attachments are below).

Next Steps

Construction is expected to begin in early January and completion in Spring 2026. The Council will aim to minimise disruption and will keep you informed as the project progresses. The works will be carried out by the Council’s term contractors.

Summary of Planned Improvements along Church Path

  • Resurfacing of Church Path to provide a smoother, safer, and more accessible route for walking, wheeling, and cycling.
  • Upgraded lighting and new CCTV columns to improve safety and deter anti-social behaviour.
  • Removal of outdated phone boxes at the Church Path gateway. This work has already been completed as part of the gateway treatments.
  • Repair, painting, and replacement of fencing along the route, including the Peabody Estate, to improve the overall appearance of the area whilst still retaining security and privacy.
  • Rain gardens, new planting, and murals co-designed with residents and schools, to enhance biodiversity and the visual environment.
  • New access points, including a connection to Beveridge Road, to improve access to parks and other destinations.
  • New wayfinding signs to assist with navigation along local routes.

Details of the Longstone Avenue Scheme will be added shortly.
