Domestic Abuse Policy - Have your Say

Domestic abuse can have a devastating impact on individuals, families and communities.

For many people experiencing domestic abuse, housing is a critical issue. People may need support to remain safely in their home, access alternative accommodation, or seek housing assistance because they are at risk of homelessness.

As both a housing authority and a social landlord, Brent Council had a key role in responding to domestic abuse and supporting those affected.

We developed a Housing Domestic Abuse Policy to set out how housing services would support victims and survivors, respond when domestic abuse occurred in council housing, and work with partners to address abusive behaviour.

We sought feedback from residents and partner organisations to ensure the policy reflected local needs and supported an effective housing response to domestic abuse.

The consultation deadline was 13 July 2026 at 11:59pm, and the consultation period was extended on 23 June 2026.
