Kensal Triangle - Traffic Management Proposal
Traffic surveys and site observations indicate that many vehicles entering the area during this period do not stop within the neighbourhood and are instead travelling through the area to bypass congestion on Harrow Road. The proposed measure aims to reduce through traffic during the morning peak period and improve conditions for residents.
At this stage of the process, we are seeking for your initial views.
The results of this consultation will then be used to decide on whether to implement the proposals in the area and you will be notified of the outcome in due course.
Phases
Consultation
It is proposed to introduce a prohibition on motor vehicles turning left from Harrow Road into Wakeman Road between 7:30am and 8:45am, seven days a week. The restriction would apply to all vehicles except cyclists. Appropriate traffic signs would be installed to indicate the restriction and its hours of operation.
The aim of the restriction is to:
- Reduce through traffic, often referred to as ‘rat-running’, on residential streets during the morning peak period.
- Improve road safety for residents and all road users within the area.
- Reduce traffic related noise, vibrations and emissions generated by through traffic.
- Encourage road users to remain on Harrow Road, which forms part of the strategic road network.
Support a safer and more pleasant environment within the Kensal Triangle area.
