linda McDonald4 years ago The cars use central way as a race track, speeding past the mental health unit and flats until the small hours of the morning. Traffic calming measures such as speed bumps or narrowing the road may help, the latter not so much as the road is used by HGV lorries during the day. Having a police presence may help. On the few occasions when the police have had a vehicle to send the cars do disperse. I believe that there are also talks to give the police more powers to deal with the rally's this will only work if there are sufficient officers to implement the changes.

Zenia Chan4 years ago Council should help to identify pockets of area where e scooter or nuisance vehicles complaints have been received. This will then help with police doing unroutined or surprised patrol for Ares that is most concerned. Just like the Clean Brent app, if council can create an app allowing residents to report nuisance vehicle or illegal escooter use on a real time basis. Evidence of such illegal use will be hard to obtain but at least it helps the council to pinpoint most concerned area. Lastly is to have road signs displayed throughout the borough to show that use of e scooter is illegal and give out leaflets or having awareness sessions free on line to help this people to understand the limit of using e scooter at present if they are to use on their private land.

Thomas Walters4 years ago When I bought an electric bike 6 years ago the law was that electric motors were only of sufficient power to provide power assistance. i.e. the rider had to pedal. Also assistance was only provided up to a maximum speed of 15.5 mph. Above this speed the motor no longer provided assistance. Has this changed ? I see many electric bicycles which have pedals but are actually motorcycles. They have huge motors. The riders don't have to pedal and they can go very fast. Some of them have tyres almost as big as a motorcycle. They seem to have somehow slipped under the radar. As part of the Nuisance Vehicles campaign perhaps you should be looking at the legality of some electric bikes.

S Z4 years ago More police patrols, speed cameras and random police speed checks in the area - backed up by traffic wardens, could help. I have seen motorbikes mounting pavements, performing stunts, racing, using footpaths and underpasses as a cut through in a very busy residential area with multiple schools, and across pedestrianised areas such as around Willesden Green Library. Similarly cars with ‘souped up’ engines drive at dangerous speeds along Willesden Green High Street (from Walm Lane to Dudden Hill Lane) and down the narrow side streets.

Sunil Patel 4 years ago Please paint double red lines on all blind spots to prevent vehicle's large and small from parking there. For example a neighbour friend has been trying to highlight such issues trough his local councillor. Example if you turn into Hillfield Avenue you will notice that every evening there is a large double glazing van parked just outside number 47. This van obstructs the view of oncoming traffic as well as cars coming from Dorothy Avenue and Hillfield Avenue. As you turn into Hillfield Avenue from Lon Park there are cars parked in the corner. They are parked on the road and there are no marked bays here. If you drive into Dorothy Avenue there are cars parked on the road while every house has a drive so why are you allowing owners of these cars to park on the road which prevents from freely cars driving in both directions as they are meant to do freely and in effect turning the road into one way street. Prevent these cars to allow free flow though of traffic. If a house owner has parking space for ten cars then let them have ten cars but if they haven't got any space and park their cars on the pavement then allow them to park two cars at a normal charge and every extra car should be doubled in price to park meaning: 3rd car means 3 x 2two cars = 6 times the price of the first car. 4th car = 4 x 2 = 8 times the price of parking the first car. This will deter households to keep there cars to minimum reducing pollution and allow free flow of traffic. Put a clear policy on place to allows means by which residents can report such issues online without having to give any personal identification.

Anna Woroniecka4 years ago I am writing specifically about problems inside Gladstone Park where there are regularly motorbikes, e-scooters and e-cycles racing through via the Anson Gate towards Parkside road. They ignore the 5mph speed limit and this in any case does not legally apply to cycles as they are not obliged to have a speedometer. Many are delivery vehicles - Deliveroo, Just Eat etc. In particular there is a danger point where vehicles cut across to Anson Gate crossing the Junction from Park Avenue North. I have recently seen a near miss of an accident between a motorbike and a van in this spot. My suggestion is to install Pedestrian guardrails on the pavement along the Anson Gate entrance leaving only the lockable gate area clear. I also suggest a staggered barrier at the top of the hill between the railway bridge and Parkside Road. In addition to this the shared cycle/pedestrian paths in the park should have gentle speed bumps installed to reduce the desire to exceed the 5mph speed limit. As far as E-scooters are concerned these should be confiscated from anyone using one and a fine issued. The current law on use is being totally ignored and it is frightening for both pedestrians and drivers to suddenly encounter one, moving from road to pavement. Anyone using one should be required to pass a road safety test, have a licence and registration plate. The same should apply to e-cycles some of which can go up to 50mph.

Steve Slavin4 years ago Grasmere Avenue is filled with parked commercial vehicles at weekends. These vehicles belong generally to people who live in the street. There are many open-back trucks used for motorway maintenance. They are filled with cones, wheel barrows and various road digging tools. There is even a large mechanical digger parked in the evenings and weekends outside its owner's residence. Apart from being an eyesore, these vehicles are left at night and on weekends in the few spaces left that are not taken by lowered curbs for driveways.Can we have a parking ban on vehicles over a certain weight?

Wayne V4 years ago I've received a message asking for my feedback regarding the proposed PSPO changes in my area, dated after the final date to submit feedback had ended. This, to me, appears to be a classic case of statistical fraud, allowing the organisers to say they've consulted the public, with the accepted replies supporting the organisers views and not those of the general public, since the public are time-barred from responding.Please can you kindly address this issue? It relates to the PSPO suggestion regarding 'Nuisance Vehicles and the illegal use of Electric Scooters'.Thank you.

Haaroon Yousaf4 years ago I agree that eScooters are a nuisance especially as they ride dangerously with no helmet or lights. If they wear those and stick to some level of the highway code i would not see it as an issue as they are similar to cycles. The sale of eScooters should be restricted to 18 or 25+. We should allow them to be approved in the highway code given some restrictions like when driving a motorbike.However, as I understand the government has made contracts with certain companies that allow some legal use of eScooters in the capital. Thus this begs the question that it is simply in the government's interest to control eScooters rather than allowing residents the power to choose what sustainable modes of transport to use. I understand Brent is pushing for "cleaner neighbourhoods" so eScooters should be at the top of their agenda as an alternate means of transport. Noise from vehicles simply cannot be stopped. In this day and age vehicles are becoming more powerful and people are opting for more expensive family SUVs and enginers that make more noise because of their size. Westminster council had the same issue which they could not stop as it is simply not possible.I also disagree with the implementation of more speed cameras as this is a simple infringement of privacy which allows the council and government to further track our movements.I agree with adding new, larger speed humps in areas of racing as a deterrent. This will force drivers to slow down, as vehicle damage from driving fast on a speed hump is much more costly than a speeding ticket. If there's cameras then drivers are more likely to cover their numberplates and continue racing, so cameras would be a waste of resources. But speed humps cannot be bypassed.

Brendan Mcgowan4 years ago Parkside is being used as a long term facility to park commercial vehicles and in some instances business are being supported from the parked vehicles. In one instance a butcher uses it to transfer animal carcasses from one van to another resulting in blood on the road and path. In another instance the owner is using the parked van to store goods and comes back to take or replenish the goods, this van has been parked for more than six months. A the top of Parkside at the junction with Dollis Hill Lane someone parked their caravan, unfortunately a tree fell on it and destroyed it, will Brent Council have it removed now?If parking restriction were introduced to allow people to park for say 4 hours it would enable people to freely use the park but it would stop people using the road as a long term parking facility. Can this be considered as a possible solution.
