Draft Residential Extensions and Alterations SPD Consultation
This document provides guidance on the Council's expectations for residential extensions and alterations. Once adopted, it will be a material consideration in the determination of planning applications.
This will replace the existing Residential Extensions and Alterations Supplementary Planning Document (SPD2), upon which this builds. The existing SPD is now out of date, and does not reflect changes which have been made to national Permitted Development Rights since it was adopted in 2018.
The revised SPD seeks to rectify these discrepancies, among others, as well as provide best practice advice on a number of other related matters. In doing this, the SPD seeks to balance the needs of homeowners with the impacts associated with home improvements.
The Council is now seeking feedback from the public on the revised SPD. The SPD can be found attached to this survey. Hardcopies have also been made available in Brent libraries.
The consultation will run from 3rd October to 28th November 2024. Please complete this survey, providing your comments on the revised SPD.
Only the name of organisations represented but not any individual’s personal details will be made public in any material related to the representations received. The Council will only retain your personal details to inform you of the outcome of the decision on whether to proceed with the confirmation of the Directions. After this has occurred your personal details will be deleted. For more information see our privacy notice.
