Revised Harlesden Neighbourhood Area Boundary Consultation

The Council has published Harlesden Neighbourhood Forum’s application for a revised Harlesden Neighbourhood Area boundary. Consultation will be for a 6-week period starting from 6th June 2024 until midnight 18th July 2024.

The Town and Country Planning Act 1990, Section 61G, paragraph 6A identifies the power to modify existing designations, including to change the boundary of an existing neighbourhood area (sub paragraph a).

NPPG guidance on neighbourhood planning, paragraph 037 identifies that section 5 of the Neighbourhood Planning Act 2017 facilitates the amendment of neighbourhood areas. This includes the below requirements upon submission of any such amendments:

a)   map which identifies the area to which the area application relates;

b)    a statement explaining why this area is considered appropriate to be designated as a neighbourhood area; and

c)   a statement that the organisation or body making the area application is a relevant body for the purposes of section 61G of the 1990 Act.

(2) A local planning authority may decline to consider an area application if the relevant body has already made an area application and a decision has not yet been made on that application.

The Council is seeking views on whether the application submitted is consistent with the statutory requirements and the proposed neighbourhood area boundary should be approved.

Please fill in a response on this portal, alternatively responses can be sent to to planningstrategy@brent.gov.uk or send to: Paul Lewin, Spatial and Planning Transportation Manager, Brent Civic Centre, Engineer’s Way, Wembley, HA9 0FJ. Please note that the Council will not register anonymous responses. You should provide your name and if relevant, the organisation that you are working for, and that which you might be representing.

When reporting the consultation responses, organisation names will be referenced by the Council. However, no individual’s name or personal details of respondents will be made publicly available. Please can you indicate with your response whether you wish to be informed by the Council of whether the forum status is approved. Please also indicate if you would like to be informed of other planning policy consultations by having your details put on our planning policy consultation database. This information will only be used in relation to consultations on the Council’s planning and associated documents. Unless you indicate that you want to be put on this database, your personal details will only be kept until the Council makes a decision on whether to proceed with the approval of the forum or not and has subsequently issued the appropriate notifications.
