Consultation on Selective Licensing of Private Rented Housing
The number of properties in Brent that are rented out by private landlords has increased over the last 20 years. It is important that these properties are well-managed and provide tenants with a decent and safe standard of accommodation.
To help achieve this, in 2018 we introduced a selective licensing scheme for all private rental properties in the wards of Dudden Hill, Kilburn, Queens Park, Kensal Green and Mapesbury. The current scheme will end in May 2023 and we are currently considering new schemes to replace it.
A consultation on the proposed schemes will run until 23 January 2023. We want to hear from residents, tenants, businesses, private landlords and managing agents in Brent, as well as any other stakeholders from neighbouring boroughs with an interest in this scheme.
If the scheme proposals are introduced it would mean that all privately rented properties in those wards would require a licence. This will help us to continue to tackle the problems of poorly managed houses, poor property conditions, anti-social behaviour and deprivation in Brent. We look forward to hearing your views on this topic.
This is your opportunity to tell us what you think about the schemes being proposed.
It should take between 10 - 15 minutes to complete.
If you have any queries about the consultation, or to request a paper copy of the form, please contact our licensing team by emailing prslicensing@brent.gov.uk or by telephoning the team on 020 8937 2384/5.
You must complete and return it to: FREEPOST, Brent Civic Centre, Engineers Way, Wembley Park, HA9 0FJ
Paper questionnaires must be returned by 23 January 2023.
