Shoot Up Hill & Kilburn High Road Proposed 20MPH
Across our capital city, 12 of the 33 London borough councils have a borough wide 20mph speed limit. This includes our neighbouring borough London Borough of Camden with whom we share a boundary on the A5 between the junctions of Walm Lane and Oxford Road. As a result, all the roads coming off the A5 on Camden’s side of the boundary are 20mph, and almost all the roads coming off the A5 on Brent’s side of the boundary are also 20mph.
Therefore, to maintain a continuity of speed limits and to achieve the Council’s commitment to ‘Make our streets safer, greener and more ‘equitable’’, Brent Council and Camden Council are working in collaboration to review the existing speed limit on the A5 (Shoot-Up Hill and Kilburn High Road) between the junctions of Walm Lane and Oxford Road.
As more and more people are choosing to walk and cycle across the borough, we must reduce the risk of them being killed or seriously injured. Lowering traffic speed also makes our streets less polluted, and better and safer places to walk and cycle.
