Town Centres Survey
Brent currently supports seven priority town centres (Church End, Ealing Road, Harlesden, Kilburn, Neasden, Wembley and Willesden Green) which play a pivotal role in driving our economy and providing community hubs for residents, businesses and visitors. There are also 10 non-priority town centres: Burnt Oak, Colindale, Cricklewood, Kensal Rise, Kenton, Kingsbury, Queen’s Park, Preston Road, Sudbury and Wembley Park.
The council’s role, as an enabler of change, is to work with a wide range of partners to agree the vision for our town centres. Together, we can support their economic, employment and social growth and secure the long term investment necessary to revitalise them. We want our town centres to be thriving social hubs for a range of business, shopping, community, cultural and leisure and residential uses with unique identities and offers that reflect and serve our local communities.
We are consulting to inform a refresh of our 2016 Town Centre Investment Plan. Whilst we continue working to tackle the issues arising from long-term national town centre decline, the pandemic has since brought new challenges and significantly impacted the stability and recovery of our local businesses. We know people value their local centres, but as national chains continue to depart, what new identity and offer do Brent’s centres need to ensure they continue to be relevant and serve the needs of our diverse communities as places to meet, socialise, shop, work and live?
We welcome your views on what you’d like to see happen in our town centres to ensure they remain vibrant, inclusive and sustainable for everyone.
