Walm Lane & Chichele Road Local Safety Scheme
Each year we identify roads and locations in Brent with the highest number of accidents and look at introducing road safety measures which may help in reducing vehicle speeds and accidents.
From the latest three years accident data available (1st Feb 2019 to 31st Jan 2022), there have been twenty-two (22) personal injury accidents along Walm Lane and Chichele Road between Cricklewood Broadway and Willesden Lane, one serious and twenty-one slight accidents. There were no fatalities. These accidents involve thirty-four vehicles, two pedal cycles and twenty-three casualties, of which five were pedestrians. A serious accident occurred outside Willesden Green Station, and it involved one motorcycle and one casualty.
Due to the high number of accidents in the past 3 years, we are proposing changes that aim to improve road safety by reducing the speed of vehicles and improving crossing facilities for pedestrians.
These changes will also help to improve the quality of people’s experience and deliver wider benefits such as road safety, cycling and urban realm improvements to the area.
