Zone W Proposed CPZ Review
There will be no changes to the current operational hours of the Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) or to the cost of permits. The review has been prompted by concerns about an insufficient number of permit holder bays, as well as the excessive length of yellow line restrictions. As a result, the proposed changes outlined in the enclosed map focus specifically on adjustments to parking bay layouts and the extent of yellow line waiting restrictions.
Phases
Consultation
You will be aware that the controlled parking zone (W) which is in operation in your area was introduced in 1997 following successful consultations with the local community. The scheme was implemented to remove commuter and long-term non-residential parking from the area; improve road safety by removing obstructive parking from junctions; to reduce the level traffic in the area by regulating parking on-street, and to attract more customers to the businesses by allowing greater turnover of the parking spaces.
However, residents have raised concerns about parking availability and protection. In response to these ongoing requests, the Council is launching a consultation to review the CPZ primarily focusing on adjustments to parking arrangements and waiting restrictions. The area under review and the proposed changes is enclosed in the consultation pack.
